Netta Sigmund
Netta Sigmunds parents are Eisig Sigmund, born on February 28, 1820, and Jetta Sigmund, née Frank, born on June 14, 1842, in Vestenbergsgreuth. The date of their marriage is unknown. Eisig Sigmund is entered in the civil register of the city of Scheinfeld on October 6, 1849, where his profession is listed as "cap maker." While his father Hirsch Sigmund is still mentioned in the protocols of the Israelite Religious Community Scheinfeld in 1841, the name Eisig Sigmund is mentioned on October 19, 1856.
Three children were born from the marriage of Eisig and Jette Sigmund: Anna, born on August 30, 1864 – died on October 4, 1924 in Scheinfeld; Albert, born on May 17, 1867 – died in July 1926 in Würzburg, where he was a wine merchant; and the youngest, Netta Sigmund, born on November 17, 1870.
Netta Sigmund ran a fabric and textile shop in Scheinfeld in the building where a Stolperstein for Ernst Sigmund has been placed.
Flight to the Netherlands
In 1938, probably immediately after Kristallnacht on November 9, 1938, Netta Sigmund, Ernst's mother, moved from Scheinfeld to Würzburg to immediately arrange her emigration to Amsterdam, to her son. Extensive correspondence exists between the secret state police in Würzburg and the district administration in Scheinfeld regarding the issuance of a passport. On January 7, 1939, Netta Sigmund deregistered in Würzburg for Amsterdam. [Source: Karin Eigenthaler]
